The Letter Project

For the month of February 2013, I presented The Letter Project — every single day — from 1 to 3pm at The Black Cow Coffee Company in Croton on Hudson, NY.   I brought note cards, post cards, stationery, pens, and postage stamps.  I invited people to take what they wished, as long as they promised to write to someone!  By the end of the month, I had interacted with more than 250 people, each of whom sent out AT LEAST one missive.  This was one of my most gratifying performances!  I have received positive feedback from both the letter writers and the recipients.  I also enjoyed the fact that the press was very interested in this project: two articles in The Gazette, a photo and blurb in the NYTIMES, and a photo and blurb in WAG.  Very cool, indeed.

Note

Since the presidential campaign of 2016, much of my time has been spent trying to keep up with the news. This does not mean that I have neglected my work. On the contrary, I have been busier than ever, using my art as one way to respond to the news. However, it does mean that I have neglected this website, which has not been updated since 2016. Here’s hoping that 2020 will bring political change — and an updated website.
