Grid of 25 Polaroids

I had never been interested in photography - ever. Not even when travelling to Europe for the very first time. I wanted to live my life -- not capture it on film!
I had never been interested in photography – ever. Not even when travelling to Europe for the very first time. I wanted to live my life — not capture it on film! In any case, my father-in-law gave me a Polaroid camera, and I experimented with it. The ease of using this camera, and the instant gratification of getting a “product” so quickly got me excited. I started shooting everything around me, mesmerized by the abstract possibilities. In other words, I was interested in the lines and shapes and colors that I could capture on the thick Polaroid surface. I spent hours and hours arranging multiple photos into compositions that were visually satisfying. That’s it. No story. No meaning. Just non-objective pleasure.
