TWEET, SWEET TWEET
Performances (Interactive), Video & Performance Art
I was invited to participate in an exhibition at the Center for Digital Arts in Peekskill, NY, and I decided to explore a phenomenon with which I had absolutely no experience: Twitter. My performance, which was presented at the opening reception for the exhibition, consisted of a series of one-on-one interviews. I asked each participant to tell me if he or she had ever sent or received a “tweet” that might be described as sweet. If the answer to this question was negative, I asked the person to imagine a “sweet tweet” that he or she would like to receive or might be inclined to send.
Overall, I would say that most people had never used Twitter for the purpose of sweet talk! Nevertheless, using their imaginations, people provided me with several sweet tweets, which I later posted on a large, green, wooden tree that had been designed for display purposes.
