Please Interrupt Me, Please
Performances (Interactive)
I went to the same coffee shop every afternoon from 1pm to 4pm for one week. Each day, I filled the little table in front of me with books, magazines, newspapers, a typewriter, a small computer, and a cell phone. Most importantly, I set up a large sign that read “Please interrupt me, please!”
Happily, many people complied with my request. I invited each “interrupter” to sit down for a chat. I was trying to prove that a conversation with a real live person is more important to me than the inanimate objects on the table or any “virtual” communication that might reach me via the computer or cell phone.
